Provided process-engineering support for a PLC-controlled remediation system that was experiencing process deviations. The system used air stripping and granular activated carbon to treat ground water containing PCE and other chlorinated hydrocarbons and GAC for off-gas control. The carbon experienced unexplained over temperature, while air strippers experienced flow cycling and variable effluent conditions. Observed operation, reviewed system design and analyzed process data to identify causes of improper process conditions. Recommended operational and design improvements to correct over temperature and improve flow cycling and stripper performance. |
